Today the London Bus Museum had organised one of their heritage days where their collection of heritage buses (mostly the classic Routemasters) would be out on the streets offering rides to the public. This time round it is on the route 19 which runs through central London including Piccadilly Circus. So I figured I would head out for some bus rides and photos.

Turns out heritage days in central London has its unique set of pluses and minuses. On the plus there is now a chance of snapping the buses against iconic backdrops of central London such as Eros at Piccadilly Circus. On the minus the heavy traffic around central London meant that the buses were going wildly out of schedule. Because of that I didn't manage to snap a bus with the Piccadilly Circus with Eros, and snapping up shots of them going round Hyde Park Corner ended in miserable failure. Having said that I managed to snap two shots at Piccadilly at around 3pm when the sun was practically shining directly down from the western end of the avenue.

Once I had managed back on one of the buses I had more success snapping the scenery between Chelsea and Piccadilly Circus as I went up and down that section once each way. And right at the end I sort of achieved my goal of a Routemaster shot with some central London landmarks - albeit the shots were from inside the bus!
