I saw a post the other day on Instagram showing a bunch of great aviation photographs. Besides being great and inspiring photos, none of these photos are in the usual aspect ratios that Instagram would like you to post in. In fact, these photos are framed in such a way that would not work with your typical Instagram aspect ratios. Instead the photos are effectively framed with whitespace, which make the photos stand out even more.
Feeling slightly inspired I decided to dig out a bunch of photos of Shinkansen trains I took at Omiya station, including the grey, original 'retro' liveried E3 series set which retired days after I took the shot, and see if I could do something similar. Since this site has a white background, framing the photos with white wouldn't make much sense, so I took one of the livery colours of the E3 train and used that as the framing colour.
