My friend caught word of the last Voyager tilting diesel train service by Avanti and so we headed out and joined the sizeable crowd of other trainspotters at Euston one cold December evening.
The Voyagers had been running on this line since the early 2000s so this is one of those end of era services. Because of the need for tilting these trains are known for their rather narrow body which in turn makes the interior space rather tight.
I do have vague memories of squeezing myself against the slanted sides of the train whilst sitting in the window seat back when these were still under Virgin Trains, but otherwise because I haven't been on one of these for so long I don't really have much of an opinion of these anymore. Regardless this is the end of a chapter for the routes, and a new one as the new Hitachi trains have taken over the routes previously run by these Voyagers.
(Also my first time and probably the last time for a while in the first class carriage for a cheeky photo or two whilst the train was at the platform...)
