I had been posting daily on my Instagram since the start of this month, and for the last week I had been posting photos of planes that I took previously. So I thought I would group those pics and post them here also for prosperity.

My notes on these photos are as follows (slightly extended version here):

  1. A DHL A300 freighter on short final at Heathrow back in March. Before becoming a freighter this A300 used to fly with JAL and, even before that, JAS (Japan Air System) before JAS merged into JAL in the early 2000s.
  2. A Korean Air Boeing 747-8i - the final evolution of the iconic 747 series - arriving into Heathrow back in August. Korean Air is one of the only three airlines in the world that operate the passenger version of the 747-8, the other two being Lufthansa and Air China.
  3. This was the sole Embraer 195 that Aurigny, the flag carrier of Guernsey, had arriving into Gatwick in October 2023. It had since left the airline in May 2024, and with that the airline's fleet is 100% turboprops.
  4. Another Embraer plane, this time it's a J-Air (domestic subsidiary of Japan Airlines) Embrear 190 plane in Expo 2025 special livery touching down at Osaka International Airport. Two things about Osaka International Airport:
    • Also known as Itami Airport, most of the airport is actually not in Osaka Prefecture but in the neighbouring Hyogo Prefecture (where the city of Itami is in)
    • Despite its name the airport doesn't have any scheduled international flights since the ever-sinking Kansai International Airport opened in 1994.
  5. A Jet2 Boeing 757 taking off out of Manchester and chasing the last glimpse of the setting sun in the distance, as quite a fitting end of my day trip out to Manchester Airport a few months back.
